Comparison
SUPtime and Solution Manager: two different tools
Solution Manager is a complete ALM platform. SUPtime does one thing, technical Basis monitoring. Here is what changes, without stretching the truth.
Point by point
The comparison
| Aspect | SUPtime | SAP Solution Manager 7.2 |
|---|---|---|
| Scope | Technical Basis monitoring and NIS2/DORA compliance | ALM: change management, testing, technical and process monitoring |
| Where it runs | On-premise Linux server, connected over RFC and SQL | A dedicated SAP system, with ABAP and Java stacks |
| On monitored systems | A read-only RFC user, no agents | SAP Host Agent and Diagnostics Agent |
| Interface | Web, in Italian and English | SAP Fiori launchpad and SAP GUI |
| Signable NIS2/DORA report | Word document with evidence and the run hash | Not as a dedicated report |
| Change management (ChaRM) | No | Yes |
| Test management | No | Yes |
| Business process monitoring | No | Yes |
Which one when
Two different questions
You need SUPtime
If your Basis team needs alerts with context, a NIS2/DORA report and a small installation, without starting a project.
You need Solution Manager or SAP Cloud ALM
If you need change management, test management or business process monitoring.
Both
They do not exclude each other: SUPtime reads over RFC with its own user and can run alongside Solution Manager.
Honestly
What SUPtime does not do
If you need any of these, SUPtime does not replace Solution Manager.
- Change management and ChaRM.
- Test management.
- Business process monitoring.
- Monitoring of Java stacks and of databases other than SAP HANA.
